New Medical School Hamburg building incl. office use

About the project

Plans call for an innovative and exceptionally sustainable university and office building located directly on the Elbe River.
The building’s primary user is the Medical School Hamburg (MSH), which aims to expand its presence in HafenCity by adding additional modern learning and seminar spaces for approximately 1,755 students and staff. Additional flexible office space is to be created on the upper floors.
In addition to office space, an exhibition area and a restaurant are also planned to facilitate collaboration and knowledge exchange.

The project is being planned, implemented, and operated using Building Information Modeling (BIM).

Green Building

The building’s CO2 emissions are to be reduced to a maximum of 8.5 kg CO2e/m² NRF*a, and 100% of the cooling energy is to be generated from renewable sources. In addition to Cradle to Cradle certification, the goal is to exceed the requirements of the HafenCity Platinum Eco-Label.
