CHARITÉ BERLIN – REFURBISHMENT OF HOSPITAL TOWER, AND NEW BUILDING WITH 15 OPERATING THEATRES INCLUDING INTENSIVE CARE UNIT (OP/IC BUILDING)

The project

While the hospital tower was being refurbished, a completely new building was erected to accommodate the central operating theatre and intensive care area and the emergency department. There are 15 ultra-modern operating theatres, three of which are used for outpatient procedures. The intensive care unit has a total of 70 beds in single and twin rooms.

Scope of services

Planning for a full refurbishment of the university hospital tower belonging to Charité-Mitte (GFA approximately 65,000 m²), the construction of 15 new operating theatres including an intensive care unit (approximately 25,000 m²) and the refurbishment of the cooling centre for the entire campus (11 MW) during operation. Connecting ICE/BMS facilities on the entire campus to the BMS system. Fire extinguishing is via high-pressure fog system.
