EVERYTHING FROM ONE PLACE

Understand processes and use technologies efficiently to make one functioning unit out of multiple separate parts

Everything from a single source and everything under full control. Since 1996, we have been developing complete solutions for the planning, management and coordination of all kinds of supply systems across every technical area, including monitoring the systems on site.

We can take responsibility for your facilities – no ifs, no buts.

Our expertise and services cover service phases 1 to 9 for the following technical areas as described in HOAI:

Obtaining water from different sources and making it usable represents a technical challenge for engineers. Fees relating to service water and wastewater are also rising, which means water supply and disposal is an economic factor too. We can plan and implement:

• Development planning for wastewater, rainwater, drinking water, well water, firefighting water
• Well technology
• Rainwater usage systems
• Water treatment plants, softening, osmosis, de-icing, removing manganese
• AP WFI water supply
• Biological wastewater neutralisation plants
• Wastewater treatment plants that utilise vacuum evaporation
• Rainwater retention, infiltration

Heating systems are a key element in making a building comfortable to inhabit. They are a major part of what makes rooms feel comfortable to the people living in them, and workplaces feel comfortable to people working in them.

The demands facing heating systems have changed a lot over recent years. Stringent demands around energy efficiency, reduction of carbon emissions, legal requirements such as the German Building Energy Act and the reduction of heating costs, combined with growing demands around user comfort, have all led to the development of numerous innovative technologies.

Liebert plans innovative, customised heating systems:

• Gas and oil boiler systems
• Woodchip pellet boiler systems
• Biogas plants
• Combined heat and power systems
• Heat pump systems
• Solar systems
• Geothermal energy, including for industry and large-scale projects
• Local/district heating concepts
• Steam supply systems
• Local heating concepts using wells and decentralised heat pumps
• Heat recovery systems
• Geothermal systems for heating and cooling

The air conditioning solution needed by IT infrastructure and equipment in a data centre is different from the solutions required by people working in an open-plan office, doctors in a hospital or processes in industry. That is why it is our planners’ first task is to analyse and understand these different requirements, so that they can draw up a tailor-made solution for your project’s specific air-conditioning needs. And that is why we view process technology as something additional to building services and we produce precisely the solution that fulfils the needs of your plant.

• Clean room air conditioners
• Operating theatre air conditioners
• Room simulations
• Building simulations
• Drawing up risk analyses
• IT air conditioning
• Process suction systems
• Air purification systems
• Dust, oil and shred extractors
• Natural ventilation systems
• Adiabatic cooling with air conditioners

Whether you’re involved in food processing or transplant medicine, cooling is always essential and can even save lives. We love getting involved in cooling and using our knowledge and experience to make it as efficient and sustainable as possible.

• VDI 2078 cooling load simulation
• Process cooling
• Open cooling without chillers
• Cooling using geothermal heat
• Cooling ceilings, component temperature control, cooling sails
• Absorber technology; screw, piston and turbo compressors
• System comparisons
• Combined heat, power and cooling systems
• Ice storage systems

A sustainable energy supply can only be arrived at by incorporating more renewable energy sources into the energy mix while making conversion processes as efficient as possible. This requires not only the development of new technologies, but also their integration into processes that have been modified accordingly. New appliances and systems have to be used that are better than existing technology at satisfying the criteria of energy efficiency and using renewable energy sources.

User comfort and functional safety also play a major role.  Lighting, for instance, can completely change the mood and working atmosphere in a room. We can help you meet the various demands of planning and overseeing the renovation of existing properties and the construction of new ones to incorporate:

• Medium/low voltage systems
• UPS systems
• Diesel emergency power generators
• Battery systems for emergency power
• Lighting systems including lighting simulation
• Low-voltage systems, burglar alarms, PA systems
• Door intercoms and access control systems
• Fire alarm systems, planning certified in compliance with DIN 14675
• IT networks including active components
• BUS systems
• Photovoltaic systems
• UPS systems
• Electric vehicle charging

Lighting simulation

Simulating lighting is the only way to determine the ideal interplay between daylight and artificial light in any given lighting situation. We use virtual models to depict outcomes realistically, allowing us to make statements about appearances and the effect of lighting. Simulating natural and artificial lighting gives you planning certainty and enables us to come up with economical and efficient lighting concepts. We use the Dialux and Relux systems for lighting simulations. Here are the services we offer:

• Testing daylight concepts
• Predicting daylight potential using insolation data and a building’s geometry
• Depicting lighting effects in 3D
• Schematic representation of light distribution across floor plan
• True-to-life representation of rooms and luminaires
• Selecting and evaluating daylight system components
• Advising on and assessing workplace layout
• Forecasting and evaluating daylight autonomy, i.e. the proportion of usage time in which artificial light will not be required
• Choosing and evaluating the way artificial lighting is operated
• Predicting and evaluating user comfort using illuminance and luminance statistics
• Forecasting and evaluating glare behaviour in offices throughout the year; shading devices and facade systems (dynamic calculation)

Benefits

• Avoiding planning errors in advance using realistic representations
• Improving visual comfort
• Assessing energy saved through daylight utilisation
• Visualising the impression given by rooms
• Avoiding glare
• Optimising daylight control

Effectiveness and efficiency are our overriding goals – including when it comes to how people and goods will get from A to B within a building or facility as quickly, comfortably and economically as possible. The solutions we offer include:

• Escalators
• Lifts
• Conveyor belts
• Facade cleaning systems

We hold detailed discussions with customers before we begin planning, so that we can meet their particular needs fully. That is how we come to understand their processes so that we can use the right technologies in the right way. We can plan and implement:

• Kitchen technology
• Cold room technology
• Media equipment
• Laboratory technology
• Gases
• Compressed air
• Vacuum supply
• Special media
• Ink supply systems for the printing industry

If a situation requires, we will engage other offices to plan special, user-specific systems for areas such as canteen kitchens, cold rooms, media, laboratories and clean room systems.

Official fire protection regulations are getting stricter and stricter with the aim of preventing fires and ensuring that no one is harmed when there is one. We have the expertise needed to plan and implement fire extinguishing systems and fire protection, whether the systems utilise water, gas or other media. We offer the following to achieve targeted prevention and effective protection:

• Sprinkler systems
• Gas extinguishing systems
• Semi-stationary extinguishing systems
• Oxygen reduction systems for high-bay warehouses
• High pressure fog extinguishing systems

Building automation is like a building’s central nervous system. It connects, controls and optimises all of its systems, components and technical areas. Our supply concepts for buildings include planning and implementing convenient, easy-to-use and flexible instrumentation and control processes. This includes:

  • Controlling, regulating and monitoring all building services
  • Complex automation systems
  • DDC instrumentation and control technology
  • Building automation bus systems
  • Building management systems
  • Remote maintenance systems

The following factors ensure that all of the technical areas remain manufacturer-neutral, including instrumentation and control:

  • Our own ICE department, which fully guarantees independence from manufacturers
  • Our ICE department is staffed by three specialists with years of experience in projects in various sectors
  • TRIC planning software also enables manufacturer-neutral planning
  • Planning manufacturer-neutral building management systems and their networking using the internet
  • Planning various bus systems, e.g. EIB/KNX, LON, Modbus and BACnet

In many areas of industry, production and other processes have to be supplied with different media. We have extensive expertise in media supply technology gathered from a wide range of projects.

• Compressed air supply
• Vacuum and blowing air supply
• Gases
• Ink supply systems for the printing industry
• Afterburning systems for polluted exhaust air
• Ethanol supply
• Toluene supply
• Chemical supply systems for electroplating

Compressed air supply systems, for example, are important and energy-intensive components in the manufacturing industry. Like power networks, they drive turbines and various machines and components such as gripper arms, wherever the use of electric motors is not practical. We have years of experience with compressed air energy and in inspecting and optimising compressed air systems.

Supplying vacuum and blowing air is a common concern in the printing industry. Centralising the supply of blowing air and vacuum can usually save a lot of energy, and that has a positive impact on operating costs and competitiveness. Once we have ascertained all of the parameters on the site, we will present you with a proposal for a modern blowing air supply system.

Thermal afterburners are used to clean exhaust air containing high concentrations of pollutants. These pollutants are commonly produced when printing, laminating and impregnating.
