Planning

INNOVATIVE, NETWORKED AND TURNKEY

INTEGRAL PLANNING OF BUILDING SERVICES ENGINEERING

FROM THE PROJECT IDEA TO THE FUNCTIONING BUILDING

Careful planning is crucial, especially for highly complex building services systems that must operate reliably, efficiently, economically, and sustainably within a building. This planning involves coordinating all requirements as well as the project’s internal and external conditions and integrating them into a comprehensive solution.

We design the entire technical supply and disposal system for your building in accordance with the HOAI service specifications. The planning process consists of the following stages:

  1. Initial workshop/needs analysis
  2. Scoping and project organization
  3. Preliminary planning
  4. Design planning
  5. Permit planning
  6. Construction planning
  7. Contract Award
  8. Site and construction supervision
  9. Project management and documentation

INITIAL WORKSHOPS

NEEDS ANALYSIS AS THE FIRST STEP TOWARDS AN OVERALL CONCEPT

At LIEBERT, every project begins with an initial workshop aimed at establishing a shared understanding with the client regarding their planned project. This involves a detailed assessment and discussion of requirements, needs, and objectives. The following parameters are primarily discussed:

  • Initial situation (existing or desired production and work processes, any existing studies, goals, etc.)
  • Specific requirements of the client, user group(s), facility management, etc.
  • Framework conditions such as budget, legal requirements, timeframe, and priorities

Building on this, we develop intelligently controlled and holistic concepts that optimally coordinate architectural and building services engineering aspects within a comprehensive plan. We ensure that your building’s energy consumption, CO2 emissions, and operating costs remain sustainably low in the long term, without compromising on the comfort you desire within the building.

BIM BUSINESS INFORMATION MODELING

PLANNING SECURITY THROUGH INTEGRAL BUILDING PLANNING WITH BIM

To create a functional building, an integrated planning process is necessary, in which all trades are brought together to form a coordinated, error-free overall solution. The holistic approach of BIM (Building Information Modeling) works only through an integrated workflow and provides the corresponding methods and procedures to ensure planning, cost, and schedule certainty early on, even in complex construction projects—the prerequisite for an economical, sustainable, and truly functional building during its later operation.

At LIEBERT, for example, cross-disciplinary 3D planning using BIM methods and tools begins as early as the preliminary design phase. Each of our locations has a team of CAD/BIM experts comprising highly qualified and project-experienced designers who plan and design your project using the latest industry-standard planning software.

COMMUNICATION AND COOPERATION

FOCUS ON SOLUTION-ORIENTED COLLABORATION AMONG ALL STAKEHOLDERS

When planning building services, it is essential to align the responsible project stakeholders from various disciplines—the building owner, investor, and users—toward a common, coordinated concept. Intensive and precise communication, along with a shared understanding of the project, are fundamental prerequisites for this.

At Liebert, we work according to the principles of cooperation, communication, transparency, and openness—not only internally, but especially in our collaboration with the building owner and other project stakeholders. Integrated planning only works when all parties share the same goal, maintain a cooperative approach, and engage in intensive dialogue—and that is what we ensure at Liebert.

QUALITY MANAGEMENT

MONITORING OF THE PLANNING PROCESS, ON-SITE PRESENCE

Quality in all phases of planning and implementation, as well as during subsequent operation—that is our commitment. Through integrated quality management based on our management system, we truly ensure quality—in terms of time, functionality, and cost-effectiveness.

  • Professional planning tools and integrated planning across all trades ensure quality throughout the entire project execution
  • QM is established as part of the needs analysis even before planning begins
  • During ongoing planning and construction meetings, quality criteria are regularly reviewed, always in collaboration with the project stakeholders
  • During the installation of building services, our site management team is fully staffed on-site as needed to ensure compliance with the agreed-upon quality standards
  • BIM-based MEP planning across all project phases and trades
  • At Liebert, we place a special emphasis on quality in terms of communication among all project stakeholders—through efficient interface management

DESIGN SOFTWARE

TOOLS FOR DESIGN, CALCULATION, AND SIMULATION

At Liebert, we rely on the following current software solutions and methods for the planning, calculation, and simulation of building services engineering:

  • Autodesk AEC Collection (Architecture, Engineering & Construction Collection/Integrated BIM software with the components AutoCAD, REVIT, NavisWorks Manage, MEP Toolset for building services)
  • Bentley MicroStation (3D CAD/BIM)
  • Solar-Computer (HVAC building calculations)
  • LiNear Solution (CAD, design, calculation)
  • Venturis TRICAD (CAD for Bentley MicroStation)
  • CADInla 2020 (DWG converter)
  • mh-Software (MEP planning software)
  • Simulation programs for CHP plants, solar systems, and cooling load simulation according to VDI 2078
  • Fire protection planning for piping installations according to LAR using TGAplus
  • Certified design of fire alarm systems according to DIN 14675
  • MSR/GLT planning software in accordance with VDI 3814 for control schemes using TRIC-MSR
  • Preparation of specifications, price lists, and invoices with ORCA AVA
  • Heating load calculation according to DIN EN 12831
  • Economic feasibility analysis in accordance with VDI 2067
  • Scheduling and tracking with MS Project
  • Lighting calculation with graphical representation
  • Optimized pipe network calculations for heating, plumbing, cooling, and wastewater systems in accordance with DIN EN 12056
  • If necessary, we manage the entire project execution via a separate project server.

SIMULATIONS

PREDICTING AND EVALUATING THE ACTUAL PERFORMANCE OF A BUILDING IN ADVANCE

Through appropriate simulations, conclusions can be drawn as early as the initial planning phases regarding, for example, the building’s thermal performance, thereby serving as an important planning aid for the development of an energy-efficient concept that also meets the desired comfort requirements. The entire building is modeled in a dynamic building simulation program, allowing the building’s performance and the required cooling and heating loads to be visualized based on the sun’s position. Similarly, the simulations are used to assess the thermal comfort of the workspace by calculating the number of hours per year that comfort thresholds are exceeded, allowing only the most essential technical systems to be installed with minimal technical effort.

Even the most complex projects can be simulated in this way and evaluated precisely on a room-by-room basis. Lighting conditions, for example, can also be realistically visualized in advance through a simulation.

Do you already have a project idea? Are you dissatisfied with the energy performance of your systems? Are you planning an expansion or renovation of your building because it no longer meets modern requirements for sustainability and comfort?
