Integral planning with BIM

As early as 2015, we at Liebert began planning and designing complex building services projects entirely in 3D using BIM methodology. For us, BIM is the comprehensive and forward-looking methodology for efficient, transparent, and sustainable planning. Since 2018, all of our planning teams have been working based on BIM procedures and methods, equipped with the appropriate planning software, the necessary infrastructure, and the required expertise—and have already successfully implemented many BIM projects.
The application of BIM methodology opens up a wide range of possibilities for the entire planning and construction process of a building, extending all the way to facility management during ongoing operations. This directly benefits both the client and the future users. Right at the start of the project, we therefore discuss with you how BIM can deliver decisive advantages in your project and how the BIM approach should be individually configured for your specific needs.
Planning security and transparency through integrated building planning
Integration is the guiding principle of BIM. Under the BIM approach, all relevant data throughout a building’s entire lifecycle is centrally captured, consolidated, analyzed, and continuously updated by the design team.
During the planning phase, this enables, for example, an accurate, detailed, and cross-disciplinary visualization and preview of the project’s implementation, its technical systems, and its intended use.
At LIEBERT, we begin 3-D planning and visualization in accordance with BIM methodology as early as the preliminary design phase. Shaft details and penetrations are developed in 3-D, and coordination plans, detailed sections, and quantity take-offs can then be created quickly and easily from the building model. Special verification mechanisms and programs detect cross-trade conflicts early on, rather than waiting until they arise on the construction site. Using various simulation tools, the design of your planned building services systems is optimized in parallel.
The BIM methodology not only ensures planning reliability and high-quality design but also creates the conditions for the long-term sustainable and economical use and safe operation of the building.
LIEBERT BIM/CAD competence teams
Our BIM/CAD teams handle the design and visualization of your project, from preliminary design and conceptual design through to construction drawings. We specialize in the following areas:
- 3D planning and modeling of projects across all project phases
- Creation of 3D/BIM models using selected BIM software
- Coordination of digital models across all disciplines/trades
- Clash detection and control, as well as evaluation of virtual data models using selected BIM software
- Further development of digital work methods, particularly internal BIM standards
The experience our structural engineers gain from our BIM projects is continuously incorporated into BIM procedures and processes. They also play a key role in coordinating interfaces with other trades within the team and with other planning stakeholders.
We place great emphasis on the continuous training and professional development of our BIM teams and continuously invest in the necessary BIM software, IT infrastructure, and training. BIM and 3D planning is primarily carried out using the Autodesk AEC modules Revit, NavisWorks, and AutoCAD MEP.
